WFCU as a Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site For the second consecutive year, WFCU plans to offer free tax preparation services to local low-to-moderate income individuals and families. Our goal is to aid filers in claiming eligible tax credits and to avoid costly tax return preparation fees. In addition to the tax prep service, WFCU will be offering alternative Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) to members who wish an expedited return. We will also be offering special term certificate rates to encourage savings. The VITA tax season runs from 2/1/2010 until 4/14/2010 and services will be offered at both the South End and Winthrop branches. Tax prep volunteers must be certified through the IRS and complete an online, self-paced course. Non-certified positions also available. Average commitment is 4-6 hours per week for 10 weeks.
